This mother arctic hare was hanging out right by the weather station where I and another lab operator were working. We went to take a few pictures. She didn't run away and seemed willing to indulge our photo taking.
We almost didn't realize that she had a baby arctic hare nearby. It was more by luck that, when we got up to leave, we almost walked right into the baby. The baby arctic hare was incredibly still tucked into a small hole in the ground.
